FREE Community Cooking Classes

Thank you for your interest in our FREE community cooking classes! These hands-on cooking classes are free and open to the public but we ask that you commit to the classes once you sign up for our waitlist. Classes are scheduled seasonally and once we have dates available, we reach out to our waitlist to fill the spots on a first-come, first-served basis.

Our FREE hands-on cooking classes take place in our state-of-the-art teaching kitchen at 300 N. Broad Street in New Orleans. In our classes, you will join other community members in working alongside chefs and medical students from the Tulane School of Medicine to learn how to make DELICIOUS and FLAVORFUL food that just happens to be good for you. You’ll learn simple, healthful concepts to tie into your home kitchen while practicing basic cooking skills in a kitchen setting. This isn’t limited to cooking, however: you’ll also learn all the tools and techniques to effectively meal plan, shop, and eat on a budget. Together we will discuss how different foods and techniques can help you eat well, get healthy, and stay healthy. Even better, at the end of each class we get to eat all the delicious dishes we cook!

All community classes are offered as a six-week series and we ask for a minimum commitment of 4 of the 6 dates in order to enroll (this allows us to keep the classes FREE!). Classes are held on the same day and time each week and we can offer makeup sessions if you miss a week.

Adult beginner and intermediate classes are offered on weeknight evenings from 5:30 – 7:30 pm or on Saturday mornings from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. Family classes are held on Sunday evenings from 4:30 – 6:45 pm and kids classes are offered on Saturday mornings 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. During the summer we may offer a weeklong kids camp on weekday mornings. Once you have signed up for our waitlist, stay tuned for an email or phone call with specific dates and times.

Start on your path to a healthier lifestyle one delicious and healthy bite at a time!
